A film, television, stage and radio actress. Comedienne, model, film executive and first woman to ever run a studio. Still holds the title as the Queen of comedy and is also known as the first lady of television. Her face has been seen by more people, more times than the face of any other human being who ever lived. Identifiable by just her first name: Lucy.

- I LOVE LUCY

First television show filmed in a movie studio in front of a live audience, first sitcom to use three film cameras to capture all the action simultaneously, first comedy show to use guest stars on a continuing basis and the first program to feature a pregnant woman.

Thank you for your reply to the Danny Kaye question a couple of days ago! Do you know whether I can find any of them on youtube or places?

If you search for Lucille Ball and Danny Kaye some stuff will come up for sure on YouTube :)

I just got through the whole 'I love Lucy' set in the post the other day.. i'm so excited. Apart from, when I'm meant to be studying for gcse's, its probably not good. Quick question.. what was the picture from of Lucy and Danny Kaye? xx

Sorry for the super late reply. I’ve posted several photos of them, so I’m not sure which one you mean right now, but they worked together/worked on the same shows several times:

  • Twelve Star Salute to the Federation of Jewish Philantropies which was a salute to the great charitable work of the FJP (1961)
  • The Danny Kaye Show (1962) Which also was the first time Lucy’s red hair was shown on TV in full color
  • The Danny Kaye Show (1964)  Clip
  • The Lucy Show: Lucy Meets Danny Kaye (1964) Her appearance on his show was a trade-off for his appearance on her show
  • A Salute to Stan Laurel (1965) Which was a benefit for the Motion Picture Relief Fund and a tribute to the deceased Stan Laurel. Danny and Lucy didn’t do anything together here tho, she did a sketch with Buster Keaton, but they were both part of the special.
  • Night of 100 Stars Two (1985) which was a sequel to Night of 100 Stars, a benefit for the Actors Fund of America. Lucy did the introduction here and that was all as far as I know, but Danny Kaye was also part of the show.

I live in Britain, and I was wondering whether there was anywhere I could buy 'facts of life' in region 2. I'm so desperate to see it, but can't seem to find it anywhere :S any advice? :)

I wish I could help you out. I had the guys at the store make my DVD player region free. There are also guides online on how to do that. :)
